Two fake RABs arrested in Ukhiya

RAB-15 has arrested two youths on charges of robbery, snatching and abduction in Balukhali area of ​​Ukhia.

They were arrested around 9 a.m. on Thursday (June 9). RAB-15 vice-captain Major Manzoor Mehedi confirmed the matter in a press briefing on the same afternoon.

Sumon Munshi (30), son of Akbar Ali Munshi of Kashiani Rajpat area of ​​Gopalganj and late Md. Abu’s son Shahid Sikder (40).

Major Manzoor Mehedi said that in Balukhali Bazaar of Palangkhali Union of Ukhia, some people have been carrying out various criminal activities including extortion, looting, robbery, kidnapping and snatching for a long time. Our intelligence team was working in the field.

He said the arrested Sumon Munshi and his two associates. Kashem and Shahid Sikder abducted a Rohingya from Thaingkhali Road in Ukhia under the guise of RAB and demanded a ransom of Tk 4 lakh from him. Later, the victim was released with Rs 40,000. This issue also comes to the notice of RAB. The operation was carried out after hearing that they were again involved in various crimes including abduction in the name of RAB centering on the Eid-ul-Adha. Later they were arrested by the members of RAB-15.

The deputy commander of RAB-15 said that two domestic pistols, two rounds of ammunition, two fake RAB ID cards, two jackets, a handcuff, two pistol covers and two walkie-talkie sets were recovered from them. There are seven cases against the arrested Sumon Munshi in different police stations.


The RAB official also mentioned that the detainees have been handed over to Ukhia police station to take legal action against them.
