Wild elephant killed with electric shock, arrested 1

Miscreants have killed a mother elephant in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar. At the same time, the head and legs of the dead elephant have been severed from the body.

Ramu Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Pranoy Chakma confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post at noon on Tuesday (August 31). He said a mother elephant came to the paddy field in Dhoyapalang area of ​​Khuniapalang union of Ramu upazila on Tuesday morning. The elephant died after being electrocuted by the locals. Then some miscreants cut off the elephant’s head and legs from its body. An operation is underway to catch them. Those involved in this brutal murder will be brought under severe punishment.


Mizanul Islam, in-charge inspector of Himchhari police outpost, said, “I am coming to the spot after receiving the news.” A man named Nazir Ahmed was initially detained. Further legal action will be taken in consultation with the Forest Department.
