Ukhiya talks with UNO journalists about the Rohingya situation

Ukhiya Upazila Executive Officer Md. Nikaruzzaman Chowdhury exchanged views with journalists working in Ukhia about the prevailing situation of the Rohingya camp. A number of issues were discussed in this exchange meeting at his office room around 4pm on Sunday.

Many journalists present at Rohingya camps reported that the Rohingya were gradually becoming desperate with the financial support of various domestic and foreign NGOs. In order to control the existing situation, radical changes were proposed in the Rohingya middlemen including the camp administration. Emphasis is placed on monitoring the activities and activities of NGOs more strictly.

Camp administration, Rohingya and NGOs will have to take on special role to facilitate the deportation process. The meeting also recommended the formation of a committee comprising representatives of local administration, public representatives, civil society to manage the camps, to ensure greater transparency of the NGOs and to move the Rohingya back to Myanmar.
