Authorities have enforced an eight-day-long special lockdown in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar following a recent spike in coronavirus infections.
Ukhiya UNO Nizam Uddin confirmed the matter on Saturday (May 22) night.
He said, “The decision was taken at a virtual meeting of the government officials from the district administration, including the UNOs considering coronavirus epidemic situation on Saturday (May 22). No one will be able to leave Ukhia till May 30 and no one will be allowed to enter from outside. Besides, all kinds of business establishments except drug stores and hospitals as well as vehicles will remain closed during the period. However, vehicles will be able to move for medical work and for bringing and taking sick patients.
