Trial begins in Sinha murder case
A court in Cox’s Bazar has framed charges against 15 accused including Teknaf Police Station’s sacked Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradeep Kumar Das in a case filed over the murder of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan through which trial in the case began formally.

The court fixed July 26, 27 and 28 for taking testimony in the case.

The court of Cox’s Bazar District and Sessions judge Mohammad Ismail framed the charges on Sunday (June 27). At the same time, the court rejected the bail petitions of six accused when their lawyers sought bail for them to the court.

Faridul Alam, public prosecutor of Cox’s Bazar District and Sessions Judge’s Court, heard the charge framing of the case.

Earlier, 15 accused of the case were produced before the court around 10:30am amid tight security.

Mentionable, the car carrying Sinha was stopped at Shamlapur check post on Marine Drive in Teknaf on the night of July 31 last year. Sinha got down from his car. Then police shot him to death.

The incident created strong criticism across the country. Later, the court gave the responsibility for the case on RAB for investigation.


On August 5, Sinha’s elder sister filed a case with Cox’s Bazar court in this connection. Nine including OC Pradeep sued in the case
