The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has appealed to the court in Cox’s Bazar to extend the 10-day remand time limit set by the court for questioning the accused in the Major (rtd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan murder case.

RAB Director (legal and media wing) Lt Col Ashik Billah confirmed the appeal in a press briefing on Monday evening.

The court remanded three of the accused on seven-day remands each, and set a time limit of 10 business days to complete the interrogation process.

The law enforcement agency asked for an extension but they did not ask for any specific amount of additional time.

RAB’s Ashik said: “The four accused who were interrogated at the jail gate have given us some shocking information. We have appealed to the court to withdraw this obligation to complete the interrogation within 10 days so that we can discover more unexpected information.

“The hearing is on Wednesday. After that, two cases filed by the police with Teknaf police station and one with Ramu police station, and the one filed by Major (rtd) Sinha’s sister—four in total—will be investigated.”

The evidence will be taken from the police before that, the RAB director continued.

Shipra and Sifat will be questioned first as they are witnesses in this case, he said. OC Pradeep, Inspector Liakat, and SI Nanda Dulal will be remanded for interrogation afterwards.

“After her release, Shipra said her life has taken an unexpected turn due to the incident. She said she’ll seek justice till her last breath if needed,” the RAB official said.

Regarding the audio recordings of conversations which became viral on social and mass media, the RAB director said they would verify them.
