A group of Rohingyas attacked the Ukhiya camp in-charge of Cox’s Bazar for obstructing the construction of illegal shops. Several volunteers were injured. Mohammad Khalilur Rahman Khan, CIC (in-charge) of the Kutupalong (East) camp in Ukhia, was attacked at noon on Thursday (May 28th) by a representative of the Commissioner for Refugee Relief and Repatriation.
Confirming the matter at night, Refugee, Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (Additional) Samchu Daujja said, ‘Some people in the camp were illegally building shops with bricks. When the camp in-charge obstructed him, he attacked him. Legal action is being taken against those involved in the incident.
Mohammad Khalilur Rahman Khan, CIC (in-charge) of the Kutupalong (East) camp in Ukhia, said, ‘Some Rohingya shops were illegally built with bricks inside the camp on Thursday afternoon. No one listened when he was tied up at that time. Later, the illegally constructed shop of the camp was being demolished with the help of Ansar forces and volunteers. At that time, a group of 20-30 Rohingyas attacked with steals, bricks and sticks. Several volunteers were injured in their attack. Later, Ansar forces fired a few rounds at them and they fled.
Cox’s Bazar District Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Mohammad Iqbal Hossain said the operation was underway to arrest the attackers.
