Rohingya woman held with crystal meth in Teknaf

She was arrested from Nayapara Mochni Registrar Rohingya camp, say police

Police have arrested a Rohingya woman for possessing a highly addictive stimulant drug called crystal methamphetamine, better known as “Ice” worth Tk15 lakh in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

The arrestee is identified as Zaheda Begum, 41, wife of Shafiullah of Nayapara block-I Rohingya camp.

Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police Hasanuzzaman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Monday.

A team of Teknaf police conducted an anti-drug operation on Sunday night and arrested Zaheda from Nayapara Mochni Registrar Rohingya camp in Teknaf.

At that time, the law enforcers seized 100gm crystal meth worth around Tk15 lakh from her possession in front of the locals, according to SP Hasanuzzaman.


Later, a case was filed against her with Teknaf police station
