Not writing off ‘subversion’ behind Rohingya camp fire: home minister

Home Minster Asaduzzaman Khan has said they are not writing off a “subversive plan” behind the massive fire in Balukhali Rohingya camp.

The minister made the remark while briefing reporters during his visit to the fire ravaged camp at Balukhali in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.

“We formed two investigation committees to identify the causes behind the fire. They are working on it. If anyone is found involved, they will be brought to book,” he warned.

He said Sheikh Hasina’s government stood by Rohingyas and will stand by them during this crisis too.

“We find no words to condole such tragedy. But we are trying hard so that no Rohingyas slip into distress because of the fire,” he added.

When asked whether the affected will be moved to Bhasan Char, the minister said it was upto to the Rohingyas.

“If they want to go there voluntarily, then we can arrange for it,” he said.

Asaduzzaman Khan arrived at the camp at 11:00 am and paid visit to various blocks of Balukhali Camp. He briefed the reporters at 3:00 pm.
