Member arrested with yaba in Ukhiya

Rapid Action Battalion RAB-15 arrested two drug dealers along with 10,000 yaba in a raid in Balukhali area of ​​Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar.

The operation was carried out around 8:30 pm on Monday. RAB said the value of the recovered yaba was Rs 50 lakh.

The detainees are Nurul Abshar Chowdhury, 35, son of late Nazir Ahmad Chowdhury of Balukhali East Para area, director of an online news portal, UP member and panel chairman of Ward No. 1 of Palangkhali Union and son of late Islam Miah of Ward 2, International Affairs Secretary of District Community Policing Committee and Ukhiya Upazila branch finance secretary Nurul Alam Chowdhury (51).

RAB-15 Assistant Director (Media) Abdullah Mohammad Sheikh Saadi said that RAB may know on the basis of secret information that one Nurul Abshar Chowdhury was standing in front of his house to sell drugs. Based on this news, RAB’s expedition team conducted an operation and two people were arrested while fleeing. . They were later searched and recovered a blank check, a signed bank check of Rs 6 lakh, three ATM cards and two signed blank stamps and 10,000 yaba.

The arrested accused later admitted under extensive interrogation that they had been involved in the drug trade for a long time. He has been collecting yaba from Ukhiya-Teknaf and selling it in different parts of the country including Cox’s Bazar.


He further said that the arrested drug dealers and the recovered goods have been handed over to Ukhiya police station for further legal action.
