3 Rohingyas rescued with cut throat injuries, 3 missing

Police rescued three kidnapped Rohingya youths with slit-throat injuries from Hoaikyong hill in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Monday morning (September 3).

Moreover, three others are still missing.

The rescued men are- Nur Alam, 45, son of one Sayeed Hossain of Balukhali Rohingya camp, Md Khaleque, 22, son of one Jamal Mostafa of Kutupalang ‘D’ block and Abdul Gaffar Anwar, 33, from Kutupalang ‘E’ Block.

Hoaikyong police outpost in-charge (SI) Dipangkar Karmakar said, on information provided by cattlemen, police rescued three injured men. Drives are underway to rescue the three other missing men.


Teknaf police station officer-in-charge (OC) Ranajit Kumar Barua said the Rohingya men were kidnapped and taken to Hoaikyong hill around 2:00am. However, the reason behind the kidnapping is yet unknown. The rescued men were admitted to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, in Kutupalang.
