22 sacks of government rice recovered in Ukhiya

The administration has seized 22 sacks of government rice from a furniture shop in Thaingkhali of Palangkhali union of Ukhiya upazila without cutting off the rice scandal of Pekua upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

On Thursday (April 30) afternoon, Ukhia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Nikaruzzaman Chowdhury led sacks of rice were recovered from an Akhtar’s warehouse at Thainkhali Rahmat’s Bill Road market. Akhtar, the shop owner, has been arrested on charges of involvement. He is the son of late Rashid Ahmed of Rahmat Beel village in Palangkhali union of Ukhiya.

According to eyewitnesses, a rice syndicate in Palangkhali, Ukhiya, has been active in buying and storing government rice for a long time. If you interrogate them, the main secret will come out.

Asked about this, Palangkhali UP Chairman M Gafur Uddin Chowdhury said, “I have received complaints from the general public that several syndicates buy rice at low prices and store it.” Based on the complaint, UNO Nikaruzzaman, I and the tag officer recovered 22 sacks of official rice from the furniture shop.
